Good Guy Syndrome

People make legally dangerous statement because they want to make themselves and the receivers feel better in order to have a good relationship. An example of good guy syndrome in the case of a U.S.A law firm interviewing job candidates. One of the firm partners was asked to inform a candidate that she was not selected. In every message there comes a situation in which the company has to deliver some sort of bad news to its customer, investor, supplier, etc. maintaining the good relationships with them. But sometimes, doing so, the company can make a mistake by delivering the message too gently that the actual matter is overlooked. This can further create some legal problems that the company may have to handle.
